Tom Morrell & the Timewarp Tophands
The "How the West Was Swung" Series
|
|
Vol. 12: Stylin'
IT’S
FINALLY HERE…another one from Tom Morrell and the Timewarp Tophands!!
This one adds to the list of Instrumental classics by Tom Morrell and this
great band.
Opening with one of Morrell’s own compositions, this CD takes the listener on a
swingin’ ride through the fertile fields of great American pop standards with
tasty and fresh treatment by Tommy and this gathering of talented
players. It’s not easy to find a favorite on this album, each of the songs is
as exciting, in it’s own way, as the next, but “I’ll Remember April” and “Watch
What Happens” are examples of Morrell’s superb arranging skills. The Western
Swing classic, “Steel Guitar Rag” gets a whole new lease on life!
And the Dobro! As innovative as his non-pedal steel guitar playing is
Tom’s virtuosity on this traditionally “Bluegrass” instrument. Morrell’s talent
and experience, along with his own tuning give the Dobro a new voice! It’s
featured on three of the tracks.
